Photography Challenge!

So I have decided that I am really going to have to start challenging myself in order to improve my skills AND I am looking for your help! Please post photo ideas for me. Each day I am going to try to take one picture from the ideas people have given!

The results of the photos will be posted each night (unless there is something going on where I don't have the time - time can be scarce with a 3.5 month old at home!) In that event I will make every effort to get caught up!

I am really looking forward to hearing all your photo ideas!!

  1. What an awesome idea Melissa! Here is a must try project: 'Shooting from the hip'.

Literally. It's a great way to stop over thinking camera settings, and shoot without even looking in the viewfinder.

It's often used to shoot street portraits (without permission of course) so as not draw attention to the camera.

Give it a try, even in burst mode. I bet you'll learn timing and how to compose shots without the screen/viewfinder!

  3. I think in the middle of a snow storm, while everyone is in there homes in the evening with their lights on and all is quite, no tire tracks on your road, you should go to the bottom of your road and take a scenic picture of your street looking so peaceful and seeing how your street looks like a movie set, I think it would be a beautiful picture with the snow falling. I think everyone on your st, will want one! A great house warming gift for the new commers on the on st. - Ade

  4. Hi Melissa...given the restraints of your free time, how about a black and white of a window shot in your home. A day time shot through the window with the moon visible in the blue sky. If bear was at that window, it would be ideal. Since you are up all hours of the night how about a photo of the moon shining in your living roon with the shadows. Look and see what shadows would create the best effect. A black and white photo at night of the street light rays while it is snowing. Place a bowl of fruit outside and let snow fall on it, when the snow fall has finished and you have a nice rounded white cap take the photo, color or white and black, or just place an apple on your deck and do the same thing. Grapes partly covered in the snow would be neat too (green ones). That's my ideas for the day, I'll keep thinking. Love ya Elaine
